Come meet Eliane Koeves and her memoir authors, Nikki Lindberg and Jane Rice, on Thursday, March 27 at 4 p.m. in a program sponsored by the Chester Public Library at the United Church of Chester.  Eliane: The Art of Embracing Life and Nature is the story of the remarkable life of this Chester centenarian, whose life spans the entire 20th century.

Born in 1913, Eliane grew to become an independent, curious and vivacious world traveler who constantly sought experiences and knowledge. She touched and was touched by many 20th-century upheavals, movements and changes on both sides of the Atlantic. Always in love with life itself, she felt, and still feels, that things just happen to her, pitching her forward from one adventure to the next.

As Nikki Lindberg describes her, “What amazes me about Eliane today is that she always has a project – a room to rearrange, plants to repot, a skirt to remake, or a problem to solve (how to use an e-reader and how to purchase e-books). Each week when I see her, I wonder what she will be up to! And the curiosity she showed as a young child is still vibrant. Her joie de vivre never deserts her.”

At the March 27 program, the authors will introduce the book and encourage comment, discussion, or questions. Eliane will be there to answer questions (or “color the story,” laughs Nikki Lindberg). Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP to the library (860-526-0018).
