Chester CT poets April 2013

Three of the four Chester poets who will participate in the Chester Library’s third annual poetry celebration on April 29, 2013 are, from left, Christine Palm, Tim Napier and David Bradley.

A truly wonderful evening of poetry is in the making! On Monday, April 29, at the Chester Meeting House at 7 p.m., the Chester Public Library’s third annual poetry celebration, coordinated by Chester poet Pam Nomura, will feature readings by four poets living in Chester. They are George Bradley, Tim Napier, Christine Palm, and Hannah Watkins. They will be joined by selected 6th grade poets from Chester Elementary School.

A Chester Poets Chapbook is being created for the event, thanks to the generosity of Whelen Engineering. These will be for sale at the event, along with books from the featured poets. Proceeds from the chapbooks will go toward the future library expansion. During the evening, music will be provided by Dan Bernier and John Williams, and refreshments will be served. The poetry reading event is free.

Our next presentation is: JUSTtalk with Lisa Sobolewski of JUSTFOOD; reflections on natural living. Lisa will share a personal story of transformation and how she healed herself through a reconnection with nature. During times in our lives when we experience repeated tragedies, illnesses, or hit rock bottom we can either keep recreating such realities or use these messages to help guide us onto a more sustainable path. Lisa will share why she left a promising career in interior design to take health into her own hands and in doing so, how she healed herself from a debilitating disease and is spreading health through a new life purpose. She offers this talk to remind us that we are nature, that reversing disease is possible without the use of pharmaceutical drugs, and how by creating harmony within ourselves we can realize our energetic potential. Lisa will share her experiences in juice cleansing, water fasting, Costa Rica jungles, sun gazing, sitting in silence for 10 days, and will invite the community to join her in some of these adventures! Lisa Sobolewski is the founder of JUSTFOOD, an organic juice, gourmet smoothie and raw chocolate bar that is based in Chester, CT. JUSTFOOD is a contemporary health destination for experiencing wellness through food and dynamic community events that emphasizes how everything we as human beings take into ourselves affects us and our broader connection to each other and the planet. Lisa has worked as a private raw vegan chef, leads annual retreats in Costa Rica, offers raw food classes, workshops and health talks across Connecticut.
