2nd Annual Clean Up Day in Chester

In Chester CT Events on March 22, 2010 at 8:19 pm

Attn: Chester Residents and Organizations

Annual Chester Community Clean-Up Day

Are you anxious for Spring? Do you have a lot of pent up energy? Then channel all that energy into a community clean-up day from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 24 in Chester.

Individuals, groups or teams are encouraged to help spruce up Chester’s streets, sidewalks and town locations so that community pride can shine brighter than ever before.  A group could even adopt an area, especially if that group frequently uses that area.

“Chester Community Clean-Up Day” is designed to encourage people of all ages to embrace the opportunity to make a difference in the look and feel of the community. First Selectman Tom Marsh and members of the Conservation Commission hope to inspire 150 or more residents to participate by appealing to their sense of duty and community.

Clean-up efforts will focus on Chester’s roads and town locations.  Come to the Meeting House to pick up trash bags and identify the road or project that you want to work on.

The Town is supplying trash bags. Event participants are asked to bring their own rakes, brooms, shovels or gloves. Trash will be picked up by Public Works for disposal the following Monday.  Anyone can participate – small groups, large groups or individuals. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes and bring your own water and snacks.

For more information, call the First Selectman’s Office, 860-526-0013     ext. 202.

Film Showing This Week at EO Artlab: Bass Ackwards

In Film & Movies, Uncategorized on March 10, 2010 at 10:41 am

This Thursday, March  11, 7pm

BASS ACKWARDS (2010), 103 min., not rated but probably PG-13 or higher…

Linas Phillips, director

In past seasons we’ve joined Linas Phillips’ quest as he walks from Seattle to LA in search of Werner Herzog, in Walking to Werner. We’ve sympathized with the struggles of the homeless in Linas documentary “Great Speeches from a Dying World”. We conclude this season’s Cold Weather Film series with Linas’ latest adventure hot off the Sundance Film Festival, Bass Ackwards. We travel once again with Linas, this time going east across the country, in a 1976 VW “shorty” van. Linas is escaping a romance gone wrong, but encountering the many conditions of being human along the way. It’s sure to be a wild ride, and who better to take us on it than Linas himself? Linas will be with us to discuss the making of the film and some of the adventures not caught on film. Please join us for this special event!
